Coaching Team
What is coaching?
Coaching sessions involve meaningful conversations to understand where you are now, where you want to be, and how we are going to bridge that gap.
Coaching is a process that focuses on the here and now and can sometimes delve into past patterns and blocks.
It involves interactive sessions that help deepen self-awareness, understanding and build a stronger relationship with oneself, and facilitates personal growth, empowerment, and goal achievement.
How is coaching different to therapy?
Coaching has many crossovers with therapy & counselling, but when coaching, we focus on the right here, right now and create intentional effort to help you lead the life you are in love with, rather than the life you tolerate.
While counselling and psychotherapy focuses on addressing emotional and psychological issues, as well as treating mental health conditions, coaching is more centred on assisting individuals in achieving specific goals, enhancing performance, and acquiring new skills to overcome challenges.
Coaching typically adopts a more structured and solution-focused approach, where the coach collaborates with the client to define clear goals and create an action plan. Techniques like powerful questioning, feedback, support, and accountability are employed to aid clients in reaching their desired outcomes.

Is coaching right for me?
Coaching wouldn’t be right for those seeking to explore deep historical trauma or experiencing significant mental distress. However, it can be beneficial for those feeling stuck, uncertain, or lost, who want to explore specific aspects of their life.
Coaching is best suited for individuals who are open-minded, curious, and eager to learn and grow. It works well for those who have a clear understanding of what they want to work on and what changes they desire.
How many sessions will I need?
It’s difficult to say, but typically, coaching may start with up to six sessions. However, some individuals find that one session is sufficient for their current needs.
How often are the sessions?
Initially, meeting every one or two weeks is common, as it allows sufficient time to process and apply the insights from the sessions. For some, transitioning to monthly sessions can be beneficial for ongoing reflection on progress and to maintain accountability and support.
What areas and kinds of people do coaches work with?
Coaches can work in various areas depending on their clients’ needs and goals, such as confidence building, parenting, life after divorce, relationships, career development, friendships, and health, among others.
Skilled coaches can help clients clarify goals, identify obstacles, and devise actionable strategies to achieve desired outcomes. The coaching relationship’s quality is crucial, as a good relationship between the coach and client enhances motivation and commitment to positive changes. Coaching can help you get unstuck and move forward in a variety of areas.
What’s next?
If you’re interested in coaching, you can book a free 20 minute consultation on the contact page of this website or call to talk through your requirements and any questions you may have.
You can take your time to decide whether to proceed with coaching or explore other options. If you decide to move forward, we will then suggest the right coach for you, then you and your coach will schedule your first session.
How coaching can be delivered:
Coaching can be conducted online or face-to-face in Harrogate at The Harlow.
