SARAH LATHAM
For nearly 30 years I have dedicated my career to supporting children, young people, and their families. I am currently completing my final stage of training with NESTT, with over 200 hours of clinical practice in the therapy room, and am working towards BACP accreditation as a Child and Adolescent Therapeutic Counsellor. Alongside my therapeutic work, I continue to work in education, specialising in supporting children with additional needs and Neurodivergence.

My career began as a primary school teacher and SENCo before moving into specialist advisory work across Yorkshire. I have also led specialist provisions for children at risk of permanent exclusion. These roles highlighted the urgent need for therapeutic support in schools, and the unique insight I could bring as a therapist with extensive educational experience.

I have significant experience working with school-related issues, trauma, attachment, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation, as well as supporting children and young people with autism. I also offer executive functioning coaching and strategies to help children, young people, and families manage day-to-day challenges more effectively. I regularly work with parents to help them understand special educational needs processes and strengthen home–school collaboration.

My approach is integrative, contextual, and creative, with a focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance. I believe empathy, unconditional positive regard, and even a sense of humour are powerful tools in helping children and young people feel safe and supported. My aim is always to provide practical and achievable strategies that enable clients to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and navigate life’s challenges with resilience.
