AMANDA ADAMSON
Amanda is a trauma-informed systemic psychotherapist who brings both warmth and expertise to her work with couples.

Adults, Children & Teens and Families

Amanda holds a Master’s degree in Family and Marriage Therapy and has a deep commitment to fostering healthy, thriving relationships within families, as well as guiding individuals through their personal journeys. Her therapeutic approach is tailored to each client’s unique needs, using a systemic perspective that recognises the impact of relationships, cultural influences, and life experiences on personal well-being.

Amanda offers a safe, non-judgmental space where clients—whether children, adolescents, or adults—can comfortably explore their inner worlds, addressing both challenging and hidden aspects of their lives. With young clients, Amanda specialises in working through complex family dynamics, behavioural concerns, and neurodiversity, helping children and adolescents navigate their emotions, improve communication, and feel more connected within their family units. Her work with adults similarly involves exploring complex life experiences, building inner resilience, and strengthening personal and family relationships.

Her expertise extends to supporting neurodiverse individuals and enhancing communication within families. Amanda’s warm, collaborative, and evidence-based approach empowers clients to better understand themselves, fostering a sense of wholeness and well-being. Whether addressing anxiety, family issues, or personal growth, Amanda’s dedication to creating lasting change makes her a supportive, skilled choice for clients of all ages.

Couples Therapy

Amanda is also qualified to work with Couples. With a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, Amanda uses a blend of evidence-based approaches, including the Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), to help couples strengthen their relationships and navigate challenges. The Gottman Method provides a highly practical, research-backed framework for building a thriving relationship, and one of Amanda’s standout techniques is her comprehensive assessment process. She begins by meeting with both partners together, then individually, and has couples complete a detailed questionnaire. This process gives her a deep understanding of your strengths as a couple and identifies areas for growth.

Using the Gottman Method, Amanda helps couples improve communication, rebuild trust, and create stronger emotional bonds. This approach is particularly valuable for couples facing significant challenges, including the aftermath of an affair or other trust ruptures. Alongside this, Amanda’s use of Emotion-Focused Therapy allows couples to explore their emotional “dance” and understand how they can relate more meaningfully to one another. By combining these approaches, Amanda provides couples with practical tools to communicate more effectively, along with deeper insights into the emotional patterns that shape their relationship.

Amanda is dedicated not only to healing ruptures but also to equipping couples with the tools to sustain a strong, resilient bond over time. She welcomes couples from all backgrounds and life stages, creating a safe, non-judgmental space where both partners feel valued and supported on their journey toward a healthier, more connected partnership.
